Ange Postecoglou Biography
Childhood
Angelos "Ange" Postecoglou was born on August 27, 1965, in Nea Filadelfeia, a suburb of Athens, Greece. His family migrated to Australia in 1970 when he was just five years old, seeking better opportunities after his father lost his business following the 1967 Greek military coup. Growing up in Melbourne, Victoria, Ange quickly adapted to his new environment, mastering the English language and developing a passion for soccer, inspired deeply by his father Dimitris, known as Jim. His early years were marked by a strong bond with his father, who introduced him to football through shared games and watching matches together, instilling in him a philosophy of keeping the ball grounded and focused on strategy.
At school in Melbourne, Ange led the formation of a soccer team at the age of twelve and was already deeply immersed in analyzing the game, debating strategies, and playing for local clubs in his youth.

After retiring as a player, he became a noted football manager, gaining recognition for his attacking style and development of players. His coaching journey includes leading the Australian national team, successful club stints with Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory, and internationally with Yokohama F. Marinos and Celtic. As of recent years, he has been appointed head coach of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, continuing to build on his reputation as a tactical innovator and motivator.
